Jim Caldwell's prediction | Halloween front has many tricks

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Get ready for a spooky Halloween week, folks! Temperatures will remain incredibly warm and skies will remain mostly sunny until Halloween. Then there can be showers here.

This is a period of unusually mild days with high temperatures of 75 to 80 degrees now through Thursday. That's right, you don't need bulky costumes to stay warm – the weather has you covered.

However, don't get too comfortable just yet. The wind will be stronger, especially between Wednesday and Thursday. Keep your witch hats and secure all outdoor decorations as gusts can reach speeds of up to 60km/h. Factor in a few rain showers around trick-or-treating time and we have a chaotic mess. There might even be a few rumbles of thunder. I don't think the rain is particularly heavy, but it's enough to be a nuisance for anyone out in the weather.

But don't worry, this warm and breezy magic won't last forever. A cold front is on its way to sweep away the warmth and bring us back down to earth. The front will have moved through by Friday, leaving some lingering showers in the morning. Don't cancel your post-Halloween brunch plans just yet, though—we expect there'll be plenty of cleanup to do throughout the day.

And then it's time to get out the cozy sweaters and jackets. Highs will drop to around 60 degrees and possibly even lower, giving us a taste of true fall weather. However, it's a short cooldown, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Just in time for the weekend, a quick rush of warmer air moves in, bringing a change and giving us a pleasant end to the week. So make your outdoor plans—whether you're apple picking, hiking, or just enjoying a crisp fall day.

Take care of each other!
