2 Lake Park brothers accused of attacking their father – Detroit Lakes Tribune

DETROIT LAKES – Gage Michael Halverson, 19, of Lake Park, was charged in Becker County District Court with aggravated domestic violence by strangulation.

According to court records, just before 2 a.m. on Oct. 5, a Becker County deputy responded to a residence in Detroit Lakes on a report of a domestic assault. The deputy spoke with a man who reported that his son, Gage Michael Halverson, came into the garage of the home and began fighting with another person. Halverson then grabbed his father and began choking him, causing him to lose consciousness at least once while choking.

The deputy also spoke with a woman who stated she heard the commotion in the garage and pulled Gage Halverson away from his father.

Bail or bond was set at $30,000 with no conditions on Oct. 7. Bail was set at $10,000 and bond was set at $500, respectively, on the condition that the perpetrator have no contact with the victim and not enter the victim's home – although Gage Halverson may have one time to talk to law enforcement Apartment goes to pick up personal items.

On October 8, Gage Halverson posted $500 bail and was released on conditions. His next court date is Nov. 4 before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson.

In a separate case that occurred at the same time and location, Cole William Halverson, 21, of Lake Park, was charged in Becker County District Court with domestic violence and predatory assault – he did not provide his address.

According to court documents, a man said he was in the home's garage when his son, Cole William Halverson, came in and was upset with him. Cole Halverson dragged the victim to the ground and began punching him in the face. When the man tried to get up, Cole Halverson then punched him in the ribs.

A woman said she heard the commotion in the garage, saw Cole Halverson and his father on the ground and tried to pull them away from each other. She stated that Cole Halverson had been drinking alcohol and was not allowed to drink.

During the jail booking process, it was discovered that Cole Halverson had failed to comply with his address. Halverson's offender profile indicated his current address at Twin Town Treatment Center is 1706 University Ave. West Saint Paul was. A deputy contacted the treatment center and learned that Cole Halverson had been released on September 17, and apparently at 8:50 a.m. that day he was dropped off at the Lake Park residence of the robbery. Cole Halverson is required to register as a predatory offender under Minnesota law.

As of Oct. 7, bail or bond without conditions was set for Cole Halverson at $40,000, while bail was set at $20,000 or bond was set at $1,000 with conditions barring bail use of illegal drugs or alcohol, no contact with the victim and no violations include a no-contact order. He was given permission to go to law enforcement's home once to pick up personal items.

Cole Halverson's next court date is Nov. 4 before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson.
