A man is stabbed to death in the Coney Island subway station in Brooklyn

NEW YORK – Police said on Wednesday that a man was stabbed to death in a New York subway station overnight.

The 54-year-old man was found stabbed in the back at the Coney Island Stillwell Avenue train station in Brooklyn shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the New York Police Department said in a news release. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's name was not immediately released. There were no arrests.

The safety of the city's public transit system has been an issue throughout Democrat Eric Adams' term, although city officials tout statistics showing fewer serious crimes were committed on the subway system in 2024 than in previous years.

The Coney Island station is where summer beachgoers disembark to go to the boardwalk and attractions like the Cyclone roller coaster.
