Mayssa Bastos vs. Danielle Kelly: World title rematch added to ONE Fight Night 26

ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs. Rasulov on Prime Video is already shaping up to be a blockbuster event.

On December 6th in US primetime, ONE Women's Atomweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mayssa Bastos will defend her gold for the first time against Danielle Kelly in a rematch of their unforgettable world title contest in August at ONE Fight Night 24.

The action takes place at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand and follows the World Title main event between Christian Lee and Alibeg Rasulov.

Widely considered the best BJJ competitor of all time in the lightest weight classes, Bastos came into the ONE Championship with high expectations and dominated Japan's Kanae Yamada in her debut to earn a shot at Kelly's gold.

While the world title showdown was hotly contested, the 27-year-old Brazilian used her complex open-guard game coupled with her ever-evolving leg-lock attacks to earn a unanimous decision victory and add to her bulging trophy case.

Kelly, for her part, has enjoyed a meteoric rise through ONE's submission grappling ranks.

The 28-year-old American remained undefeated in her first three appearances in the organization before winning the inaugural ONE Women's Atomweight Submission Grappling World Title in September 2023 with a career-defining performance against Bastos' training partner and IBJJF World Champion Jessa Khan.

While she suffered a loss to Bastos in her first defense of the world title, Kelly did much in this fight to prove that she deserves a rematch.

A versatile grappler and dangerous leg-locker, the Philadelphia native did solid work from the top position before dropping back in a leg-lock and making an early catch.

Bastos roared back with submission attempts of his own and ultimately secured the decision, but after ten minutes of fast-paced combat, it was clear that these two athletes weren't done yet.

On December 6th, Kelly will look to even the score and reclaim the belt as the reigning world champion hopes to assert her dominance and further cement herself as the best atomweight submission grappler in the world.
