Ticketmaster effigy to be burned at Edenbridge Bonfire Night following controversy over Oasis tickets

A giant effigy of ticket sales website Ticketmaster will burst into flames at an annual fireworks festival.

The annual Edenbridge Bonfire celebration, held at the town's recreation ground, has announced that an effigy of the online ticket retailer will be set alight as part of its display this year.

This comes after controversy over people facing long queues and problems when trying to get tickets for next year's highly anticipated Oasis reunion.

The Edenbridge Bonfire Society has today announced that it will burn a wooden figure wearing a blue suit and money symbols on Saturday November 2nd, representing the location where Noel and Liam Gallagher dolls can also be seen.

The procession usually begins around 6:30 p.m., with the fireworks display starting a few hours later.

Last year an effigy of London mayor Sadiq Khan was burned following his controversial ULEZ plan, and the year before that of former prime minister Liz Truss was set alight.

Truss was pictured with a Guinness World Records record as the shortest-serving Prime Minister in the country's history and lettuce on her shoulder, a reference to the Daily Star's livestream of an iceberg lettuce that outlasted her time at No. 10.

Since 1994, a 10 m tall celebrity effigy has been burned every year as part of the celebrations.

In the past, the wooden figure has taken the shape of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Katie Hopkins, Jonathan Ross, Katie Price, Wayne Rooney, Lance Armstrong, Gordon Brown, John Prescott, Anne Robinson and Saddam Hussein.

The society has celebrated Bonfire Night for more than 90 years and more than 750 people are known to take part in its torchlight parade through Edenbridge High Street.
