Jack Teixeira calls for lower sentence – NBC Boston

The trial of a National Guard soldier accused of leaking documents is approaching, and his lawyers are trying to get him a lesser sentence.

A lengthy memorandum filed Tuesday said Jack Teixeira should be sentenced to 11 years in prison for his crime because he is essentially still a child.

But prosecutors allege he orchestrated one of the most significant espionage acts in American history and asked the judge for a longer prison sentence.

Teixeira pleaded guilty in March to posting information about the Ukraine war and other sensitive topics on the social media platform Discord. He is being held without bail until his trial next month.
