Valencia's Copa del Rey match has been postponed after deadly flooding

Valencia's request to postpone its Copa del Rey match against Parla Escuela in Madrid on Wednesday was accepted by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after floods in the southeast of the country killed several people and authorities advised against all non-essential travel.

The weather agency AEMET declared a red alert in eastern Valencia on Tuesday as firefighters rescued people trapped in floodwaters due to Storm Dana.

“The club takes that into account [postponement] is the most appropriate measure given the serious consequences of Dana that we are experiencing in the province of Valencia,” the LaLiga team posted on X on Tuesday.

The RFEF shared a statement later on Wednesday confirming the match had been postponed, adding that it would be played on November 6 instead.

Valencia, bottom of the table, hosts Real Madrid on Saturday.
