Marc Anthony's “Flor Palida” video hits one billion views on YouTube

The music video for Marc Anthony's “Flor Pálida” has now captured people's undivided attention more than a billion times.

The 2014 visual has officially joined YouTube's Billion Views Club, the platform has confirmed. This achievement marks the fourth time the Boricua superstar has reached the milestone, following his salsa banger “Vivir Mi Vida” and appearances on Pitbull's “Rain Over Me” and Gente de Zona's “La Gozadera,” both of which the singer features .

The music video tells the story of a struggling waitress, portrayed through various scenes where she survives the rain. As the story progresses, there are bizarre moments with dancing scarecrows. The waitress finally escapes with a large suitcase. Meanwhile, Marc Anthony is seen driving a jeep through cornfields where he eventually finds her, while the waitress enjoys her happiness, feeding horses and spending time with the singer in a cozy home atmosphere. The story culminates in their marriage and symbolizes a new beginning.

The salsa song, written in 2002 by Cuban singer-songwriter Polo Montañez, is about a man reviving a dying flower as a metaphor for the rejuvenation that love can bring.

Marc Anthony's version of the track peaked at number 16 on the overall Latin Airplay chart in July 2014 and topped the Tropical Airplay chart for two weeks between May and June 2014. The song appears on the singer's 2013 album 3.0. This one billion view milestone comes on the occasion of the music video's 10th anniversary, which took place on October 17th.
