Chelsea confirmed line-up against Newcastle United | News | Official site

Chelsea have made eleven changes to their starting lineup for tonight's Carabao Cup round of 16 tie against Newcastle United.

Enzo Maresca has made big changes to his squad for the Carabao Cup and Conference League games so far this season, in order to manage the heavy workload of his players and give his talented squad the opportunity to impress.

And the Italian did the same again after Sunday's 2-1 Premier League win over the Magpies.

Filip Jorgensen remains our goalkeeper in cup competitions and is protected by a back four consisting of Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and Marc Cucurella.

The midfield will likely consist of Renato Veiga and Enzo Fernandez leading the team, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk in the more advanced roles.

Christopher Nkunku – who has already scored eight goals in six starts and eight appearances as a substitute this season – will take charge again after replacing the in-form Nicolas Jackson.

The Blues' bench is full of quality, with Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Levi Colwill, Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell and Marc Guiu among the substitutes. Jadon Sancho did not travel due to illness.

Our opponents Newcastle United have made five changes to their line-up, with Chelsea academy graduate Lewis Hall retaining his place.

Anthony Gordon has recovered from the groin injury that kept him out of Sunday's game. Emil Krafth, Lloyd Kelly, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock are the other players brought in by Eddie Howe.
