14-year-old killed in Texas car crash in Kendall County

The Texas Department of Public Safety provided information about three Pipe Creek residents who died in a two-vehicle crash in Kendall County on Tuesday evening, October 29, at 8 p.m. The accident occurred when a Ford F-250 Super Duty traveling west on State Highway 46 passed a passing zone and struck a Toyota Corolla.

The 58-year-old driver of the Ford truck that collided with the Toyota Corolla was not identified in the release. All three Pipe Creek residents in the car, Roger Louis Waid, 50, Patricia Ann Waid, 53, and Blake Lynn Waid, 14, died at the scene, the release said. The driver was transported to University Hospital with injuries.

An investigation is underway and next of kin will be notified. No further information is currently available.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you that one of our students has died. This is an unimaginable loss for our entire school community and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends at this difficult time,” the statement said.

The district provides school counselors to all staff, students and families who need support.

“We ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time,” the statement said. “We will continue to provide support and assistance to our school community as we mourn this tragic loss.”

MySA contacted the Department of Public Safety to determine whether charges would be filed against the driver.
