FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The man behind the wheel of a fatal crash in northeast Fresno learned how long he will spend behind bars.

According to police, in April 2022, John Ashcraft ran a red light on Friant and Shepard before colliding with and killing 22-year-old Amaya Chenot.

Ashcraft admitted he was high on meth and did not have a driver's license at the time of the accident.

On Wednesday morning he was sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated manslaughter while drunk.

His driver's license was also revoked for life.
