Two students and a bus driver were taken to the hospital with “minor injuries” Wednesday after a Jefferson County Public Schools bus carrying 30 children was struck from behind, temporarily closing all lanes of Dixie Highway south of Blevins Gap Road. officials said.

JCPS spokeswoman Carolyn Callahan said bus No. 1347 was carrying students at Dixie Elementary when it was rear-ended. Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services reported the accident on social media around 3 p.m

A small number of students reported neck pain after the crash, Callahan said. It was initially thought no one would need to go to the hospital, but Callahan said two students were taken to Norton Children's Hospital as a precaution. The bus driver was also taken to a hospital, although Callahan wasn't sure where she was taken.

Students who reported neck pain were evaluated by first responders at the scene, Callahan said. Some parents came to pick up their children from the scene and another bus was sent to take the remaining students home, she said.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman John Bradley confirmed that no serious injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by LMPD's Third Division Unit, Bradley said. The highway has now reopened, Louisville Metro Emergency Services officials said on social media.
