Katrina Baur pleads not guilty to involvement in the death and disappearance of Elijah Vue

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) – Elijah Vue's mother has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the 3-year-old boy's death.

Katrina Baur, 31, is charged with chronic neglect of a child resulting in death and neglect of a child under 6, both felonies. She is also charged with two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer, which is a misdemeanor.

Baur refrained from formally reading out the charges because they were the same in the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors were given a deadline of December 20 to propose a plea deal to Baur and her lawyer.

The court granted Baur's request for access to her daughter as long as he complied with Wisconsin's CHIPS (Child in Need of Protection or Services) statute.

An Amber Alert was issued for Elijah on February 20th. Investigators said the boy was in the care of Baur's friend, Jesse Vang, in Two Rivers. Vang claimed he took a nap and Elijah was gone when he woke up. The body was found on September 7 in a wooded area a few miles from Vang's home. Vang will stand trial next week on charges of repeated physical abuse of a child resulting in death, hiding a corpse and resisting or obstructing an officer.

On October 18, Baur's bond was increased to $400,000 cash. She was previously held with $15,000 in cash before Elijah's body was found.

Baur's next court date is February 12th, which will be a spiritual court hearing.
