Man sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for federal drug crimes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A South Charleston man was sentenced Wednesday to nearly 20 years in prison for a federal drug crime, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Brandon Christopher Solomon, 30, was sentenced to 19 years and seven months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The incident occurred in early December last year in the Kanawha City neighborhood of Charleston.

According to the news release, Solomon sold approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine and 10 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant.

“The court found that Solomon was involved in at least 16 drug transactions and possessed a firearm on multiple occasions in connection with those transactions,” the release said. “In addition, Solomon twice threatened to shoot individuals in connection with these transactions.”

Investigators say Solomon has a lengthy criminal history, including two prior federal drug convictions. He also committed an armed robbery in 2014 while on supervised release for previous federal convictions.
