Authorities say an unlicensed driver is responsible for killing a 23-year-old woman in a highway accident

MESA, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) – A man is facing charges after causing a crash that killed a woman in Arizona over the weekend.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 45-year-old Nicholas Stewart Meyer was in the process of changing lanes on US 60 in Mesa around 8 a.m. Sunday when he veered to the right and crashed into a vehicle that had stopped on the side became the street.

Two people who were near the vehicle were hit.

One of the victims was identified as 23-year-old Zoey Johnson of Glendale. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

DPS said Meyer was arrested and booked into jail on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and causing death by a traffic violation.

No further information was released.
