Man found guilty of drug charges

ELLSWORTH, Wis. (WEAU) – The Ellsworth man found guilty in a chase that led to the discovery of multiple drugs was arraigned Wednesday.

The court sentenced Craig Harp, 42, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, to 17 years in prison, followed by 8 years of extended supervision.

Court records show Harp pleaded no contest to an amended charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine (>50 grams) as a repeat offender without a second or subsequent offense, an amended charge of possession with intent to deliver heroin ( > 3-10 g) as a repeat offender repeat offender without a second or further offense and a charge of recklessly endangering safety in the second degree as a repeat offender.

Additional counts of identity theft, financial gain as a repeat offender and driving or operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, second or subsequent offense as a repeat offender were immediately dismissed.

Further charges were dismissed but read out. These included:

  • Possession with intent to deliver narcotics, second or subsequent offense, as a repeat offender;
  • Driver who flees/eludes an officer as a repeat offender;
  • Pronounce a forgery as a repeat offender;
  • possession of drug paraphernalia as a repeat offender;
  • Possessing/obtaining a prescription illegally as a repeat offender;
  • obstructing an officer as a repeat offender;
  • Carrying a concealed knife as a repeat offender;
  • violating bail as a repeat offender;
  • driving a motor vehicle while revoked;
  • and exceeding speed zones exceeding 45 miles per hour.

The court said Harp had 20 days to file an appeal.
