What you should know

The Cavaliers return home after two away games. They will host the Los Angeles Lakers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET. With the Cavaliers fresh off a win as underdogs, they will go into this game as favorites.

The Cavaliers will enter Wednesday's game having (finally) defeated the Knicks, to whom they had lost 8-2 in their 10 previous meetings. The Cavaliers managed a 110-104 win over the Knicks on Monday. Cleveland trailed 72-59 with 4:29 left in the third quarter, but still eked out the narrow six-point victory.

Darius Garland was the standout offensive player of the contest as he went 12-for-19 en route to 34 points plus two steals and two blocks. He also made five three-pointers, the most he has had since March. Less helpful for the Cavaliers was Dean Wade's abysmal 0-5 three-point shot.

Meanwhile, the point spread may have been in the Lakers' favor last Monday, but the final result was not. They suffered a 109-105 loss at the hands of the Suns. Los Angeles took an early lead (plus-18 with 5:16 left in the first quarter), but unfortunately they couldn't maintain that momentum.

Despite their loss, several Lakers players rose to the challenge and made notable plays. Anthony Davis, who posted a double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds, was perhaps the best of them all. Davis' night made it six straight games in which he scored at least 30 points.

Cleveland increased its record to 4-0 with the win, which was its third road win in a row. The loss was the first of the season for Los Angeles and the record is 3-1.

Wednesday's match will be a shooting masterclass: The Cavaliers have shot from deep this season, shooting 41% of their three-pointers per game. It's not like the Lakers are struggling in that regard, however, as they've made 38.2% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it will be interesting to see how their clash unfolds.

The Cavaliers suffered a bitter 116-97 loss to the Lakers in their last game in April. A major factor in this loss was the dominant performance from Davis, who posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Will the Cavaliers be able to stop him with all their might this time? There's only one way to find out.
