Song and video “São Paulo” by The Weeknd and Anitta: Stream now

The Weeknd and Anitta finally debuted their “São Paulo” collaboration on Wednesday (October 30).

There was a new music video for the song, which – as suggested in cryptic previews of the collaboration – featured Anitta with an exaggerated baby bump. In the clip, Anitta's pregnant belly sings The Weeknd's parts, with her lips sticking out where her belly button is. The video ends with the word “Phantasm” flashing, although it's unclear whether this could be an album or song title or something else entirely.

The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) previously told it Poster Brazil in his cover story that his frequent collaborator Mike Dean had asked Anitta to record vocals to complement The Weeknd's set last October when he performed two nights in São Paulo during his After Hours Til Dawn Tour. “What she sent was so great that we created the song,” said the “Blinding Lights” hitmaker. The two debuted “São Paulo” on September 7 at the titular city’s Estádio MorumBIS during a special one-night show that was livestreamed. “We knew it was too special just to play on stage. We saw great potential in the song and found the beat that is the heart of the show,” he added about “São Paulo.”

“I wrote some verses as a joke and never thought they would become serious. Suddenly I received the finished song. I loved it! I was very honored and flattered,” said Anitta Poster Brazil. “I have always been a big fan of him and his work. I never thought this would happen and now it's a dream come true. It’s, as promised, a little more Brazilian funk around the world.”

He introduced more new songs from his upcoming album Hurry up tomorrowincluding “Dancing With the Flames” and “Timeless” with Playboi Carti, which have since been released. The former peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter peaked at number 3, becoming The Weeknd's 19th top 10 hit and the highest-charting debut on the all-genre songs chart, as well as Carti's fifth top 10.
