LeBron and Bronny James return home, both taking the court at the Lakers game in Cleveland

LeBron James and Bronny James have already made NBA history as father-son teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers. But the two shared another special moment Wednesday night in a road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with whom LeBron spent 11 seasons and won a championship.

The Cavaliers defeated the Lakers 134-110 in a spectacular match at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Wednesday, keeping the Cavaliers undefeated this season. Bronny entered the game in the fourth quarter when the contest was out of reach for the Lakers, although fans in Cleveland made it abundantly clear that they wanted him to report early.

He walked onto the field with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter and did so to loud applause. It was his second appearance in an NBA game in his career.

LeBron was already out of the game at this point. He finished the night with 26 points and six rebounds after shooting 9 of 13 from the field. Bronny also scored the first points of his career when he hit a step-back jumper from the near corner just a few minutes into the game.

He finished his five minutes of play with two points, two assists and a steal. Bronny shot 1 of 2 from the field and missed a 3-point attempt down the stretch.

Even though the two weren't on the field at the same time, the Cavaliers found a way to honor both Jameses before the game.

Bronny is expected to play in the G League following a five-game road trip with the Lakers that ends next week. But he and LeBron had to do something first: get home.

Cleveland has always been the home of the James family, and LeBron began his career there after growing up in nearby Akron. Bronny, the oldest of LeBron and his wife Savannah's three children, was born in Akron in 2004, shortly before LeBron's second year with the Cavaliers.

LeBron James spent 11 years in Cleveland, spread over two stints, collecting awards and honors in both periods. In the first stint, LeBron won the NBA Rookie of Year award and two NBA MVP awards; When he returned to Northern Ohio in 2014, he led the Cavaliers to the 2016 NBA championship.

After Bronny was selected 55th overall by the Lakers in the NBA draft in June, the two played together last week in the Lakers' season opener as the first father-son duo in NBA history. LeBron and Bronny shared the court for a total of three minutes in the second quarter of the 110-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Jameses are only the fourth father-son duo to play together in American professional sports; One of those couples, Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., was there to see history made in Los Angeles' first game.

The Cavaliers were ahead most of Wednesday night, outscoring the Lakers by 19 points in the first quarter to extend their lead. Evan Mobley led the way with 25 points and Donovan Mitchell finished with 24 points and seven assists. Jarrett Allen also added 20 points and 17 rebounds. Cleveland is off to a 5-0 start to the season for the first time since 2016.

Anthony Davis contributed 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Lakers in the loss, moving them to 3-2 on the year. Rookie Dalton Knecht finished the game with 18 points off the bench. The Lakers have three games left on their road trip, starting with a match against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
