Documents released in suspected murder of Roosevelt wife found dead in Vernal

Documents from an arrest warrant for a suspect in the murder of a Roosevelt woman found dead in Vernal have been unsealed.

The documents detailed how Kimberly Hyde was reported missing in Roosevelt on October 7, 2024 by her husband, who stated that her car was also missing.

The next day, Hyde's car was found at 750 South 500 East in Vernal, police estimated 38 miles from her home.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

Police looked through the window into the car and found items that Hyde's husband had also reported missing, and “the items appeared to be contoured in a way that suggested there may have been a body among those items.” Further examination revealed that it appeared to be a partial item.” “Parts of the victim's clothing were visible among the items, and hair and blood were also visible among the items,” the documents state.

A search warrant for Hyde's car was filed and granted, and police found a body – later identified as Hyde – among the items. Police said the body showed signs of physical trauma, making it appear that “the person was a victim of criminal homicide.”

An autopsy in Hyde revealed blunt force trauma to the head and face and at least eight stab wounds that were determined to be superficial. Her neck had “larger and deeper” wounds that suggested sawing motions were used “apparently to cause as much damage as possible and ensure the death of the victim,” documents said.

According to the documents, a task force was formed to investigate the timeline that led to Hyde's death. Witness statements and footage were used to determine the time frame, police said.

The timeline detailed in the unsealed documents explained that Hyde traveled to Vernal twice on October 7th. When her car was seen on the second trip, it was followed by a white Dodge Journey.

The Dodge was determined to belong to Henry Resuera. Resuera's son, a minor, told police he was taking Resuera to the airport for a family emergency, which was confirmed by evidence found at the Heber City port of entry on Oct. 9, documents said.

According to the documents, Resuera had his son pick him up in Vernal for unknown reasons. The son told police his father rode in Hyde's car wearing a hat, face mask and gloves. His son followed him to where Hyde's car was later found when Resuera told his son that he had killed Hyde, documents said.

A search warrant was issued for Resuera's home and police saw what appeared to be drops of blood in the driveway.

Resuera's wife and son told police that Resuera admitted to them that he killed Hyde. The two told police details of the death “which have not been made publicly available.”

Resuera's son then took him to the Salt Lake City airport so he could fly to the Philippines, where he is from. The ticket to the Philippines was purchased after a press release was sent out about Hyde's disappearance, documents say.

According to the documents, Resuera was a neighbor of Hyde and had been to her home many times. In the CCTV he can be seen walking to Hyde's house with a bag before she returns home from Vernal for the first time.

The documents conclude with this statement from police:

Henry Cito Piano Resuera Jr. is currently believed to have fled the country to the Philippines. Therefore, no court summons can be served on him. For this reason, I am applying for an arrest warrant against him. . . “

The arrest warrant includes the following charges: one count of aggravated murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated burglary.
