Yankees fan who went viral played hockey in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — It was a less than exemplary piece of the so-called Fall Classic.

In the first inning of Game 4, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts attempted to catch a foul ball near the right field bleachers. Yankees fan Austin Capobianco reached into the air with Betts' glove and grabbed it.

Capobianco and his friend John Peter were called out for fan interference and escorted from Yankee Stadium. The moment went viral.

This morning on FanDuel's “Up & Adams Show” on YouTube there was a revelation from former University of Arizona star and four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.

“This guy here who grabbed Mookie Betts’ glove was my college friend. He was on the Arizona hockey team. The entire hockey team was an absolute lunatic.”

Capobianco's hockey card can be seen on eBay.

“This is unacceptable in the world of sports,” said Gronkowski, referring to the interference in game operations. “That’s what fans do when they have the opportunity.”

However, Capobianco and Peter will not have this opportunity again. The Yankees issued a statement saying fans would not be allowed to attend Game 5.

Instead, the tickets were given to a cancer patient.

Capobianco is reportedly a season ticket holder. It is not known whether it will stay that way.
