1 dead, 1 injured in hit-and-run accident in Lynnwood

A pedestrian was killed and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in Lynnwood on Wednesday evening.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), as of 11 p.m. Wednesday, the southbound lanes of State Route 99 are currently closed near 164th Street Southwest. Traffic alternates in the northbound lanes.

Although there are limited details about the accident, WSP said a car and two pedestrians were involved in the accident. One of the pedestrians died and the other was hospitalized in serious condition.

The driver fled the scene and police do not yet have a description of the vehicle.

The crash occurred just before 7 p.m

A longer closure is expected. Drivers should expect delays or find alternative routes.
