PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, died in a hang glider crash Monday, officials said.

David Haughwout of Belleville died after his hang glider crashed on Jacks Mountain Road in Oliver Township, CBS affiliate WTAJ reported. The 68-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, the television station said.

Haughwout reportedly crashed his hang glider into a tree around 3:30 p.m. on Monday after losing control of the plane. Mifflin County Coroner Andrea Alcalde told the television station that the man's cause of death was positional asphyxia. The police are investigating the crash.

Mifflin County is located in central Pennsylvania.

A hang glider is a triangular aircraft flown by a pilot hovering horizontally below. The activity allows thrill-seekers to fly hundreds or thousands of feet in the air.
