Grimes joins Magdalena Bay on the new “Image” remix

One of our favorite songs of 2024 so far has been “Image,” a standout song from Magdalena Bay’s excellent album Imaginary disc. Many people have noticed this Imaginary disc feels like a spiritual successor of sorts to Grimes' 2015 opus Art angel. And now, as if the stars aligned perfectly, Grimes appears on a brand new remix of “Image.”

The remix, officially titled “Image (Grimes Special),” seems a bit darker and more ominous and begins with a shrill voice asking, “The seats are empty. The theater is dark. So why do you keep dancing?” The original tempo slows down a bit as harder, harsher synthesizers take over. Here's what Grimes has to say about the remix in the third person:

While Grimes was recently under house arrest for illegally creating a super-species of extremely large naked guinea pigs, he's cautiously returning to music with a few remixes. However, this one seems to be particularly good.
