World Series 2024: Analysis, results of the Dodgers' title run

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the 2024 World Series Champions!

For the third time, the 12-team postseason kicked off with an action-packed wild card round in which eight teams competed for four spots to advance to the eight-team division series. The Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves were all defeated by their wild card opponents, sending the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres to the Division Series. In the only Game 3 of the year, Pete Alonso and the New York Mets stunned the Milwaukee Brewers with a home run in the ninth inning to advance.

The Philadelphia Phillies became the first team to be eliminated from the divisional round when the Mets closed out Game 4 at Citi Field, upsetting Philadelphia. Meanwhile, in the American League, the New York Yankees advanced to the ALCS, where they defeated a Cleveland Guardians team after earning a victory over the Tigers in Game 5 of the ALDS.

The Yankees defeated the Guardians in a hard-fought ALCS triumph in five games and the Dodgers ousted the Mets in six games.
