Detectives are looking for tips about the theft in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – The Springfield Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help in identifying a theft suspect.

On Wednesday, Officer Chris Jones, Crime Stoppers coordinator for Sangamon and Menard counties, sent out a bulletin describing a landscape theft in Springfield. The incident was reported Sept. 30 when police were called to Miracle Temple Church at 1201 Pope St.

Detectives are looking for tips on the Assumption break-in

Security footage from Sept. 29 shows a black woman wearing a blue jacket and black pants riding a white bicycle to church around 4:20 a.m. The woman then unplugged the landscape lights and wiring before driving away. The total value of the stolen items is $700.

The Springfield Police Department and Crime Stoppers ask anyone with information about the incident or who can identify the suspect to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427. People can also submit a tip on their website or use the P3 app.

Any tipster who provides information leading to an arrest could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.
