A Walmart worker who “burned” to death in the bakery's walk-in oven was found by her mother, according to family

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (Gray News) – The 19-year-old Walmart employee found dead in the walk-in oven of the bakery department of a store in Canada has been identified.

On a GoFundMe page, the family identified the worker as Gursimran Kaur and wrote that she was “found burned in the walk-in oven.”

According to Halifax Regional Police, officers responded to the Walmart store in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 19 for a report of a “sudden death.”

Police said the worker was found dead in a large walk-in oven in the bakery section of the store.

Kaur's family said on the GoFundMe page that both she and her mother had worked at Walmart for the past two years.

The family said Kaur's mother tried to find her daughter after not seeing her for an hour and she didn't answer her phone, which was “unusual.” The family said the mother eventually found her daughter in the oven.

“Imagine the horror her mother felt when she opened the oven and someone pointed it out to her!” the GoFundMe page says.

Police said a “complex” investigation was ongoing and had not confirmed the cause or manner of death.

“The investigation is complex and involves multiple partner agencies. An investigation of this nature can take a significant amount of time,” police wrote in a statement.

The family also said they could not provide further details due to the ongoing investigation.

Kaur is originally from India and her family said she was a “young, beautiful girl who came to Canada with big dreams.”

The GoFundMe page is no longer accepting donations because the fundraising goal has been reached.
