Man's Impression of His Girlfriend at the Stanley Cup Goes Viral: 'So True'

A woman's boyfriend mastered an impression of her with her favorite cup holder.

A video posted on TikTok by Angela (@angelac0123) went viral after she shared a clip of her boyfriend walking around with a bucket and a mop that mimicked the size of the internet-famous Stanley Cup cup. Since the footage was posted, it has received over 213,000 likes and 570 comments. “Stanley Cup owners are like that,” Angela captioned the video. “He’s not wrong.”

The Stanley Cup is awarded each year by the National Hockey League to the winner of the playoff championship. It is the oldest trophy awarded to a North American professional sports franchise.

In the video, Angela asks her boyfriend to repeat what he told her so she can film it. “This is what you look like when you walk around the house with your Stanley,” he said, imitating her walk. Newsweek asked @angelac0123 for comment via TikTok.

In the comments, people commented on how awkward it was to move around with the giant cup and straw. “He’s not wrong though,” wrote @missstammyn. “I think I look like that too.”

The clip caused some confusion among hockey fans, who pointed out that the Stanley Cup is a beverage container for some, but an annual tradition for others.

“Me: I'm trying to figure out which team this guy won the Stanley Cup with!” @onemileatatime26.2 wrote.

“I miss the days when a Stanley Cup was a Stanley Cup and not a Stanley Cup,” wrote @nic00las7.

The Stanley Cup trend

The Stanley Cup mug is known for its ability to maintain a constant temperature of drinks for hours, sometimes even days. It has become something of a social media phenomenon. On TikTok, the search term “Stanley Tumbler” reveals over 250 million posts.

However, Stanley Cup cups have a price that ranges from about $20 to $60. Last year, The Real Housewives of New York City Alum Bethenny Frankel took to Instagram to offer a different opinion on the viral phenomenon.

“This is easily the dumbest thing people want to buy,” Frankel said in a video. “I was sent this one and I'm grateful because I didn't have to pay for it… It doesn't fit in any cup holder. It will tip over. You could hit someone in the face with it. It looks like an industrial flashlight, so they should make one that’s an industrial flashlight.”

However, Frankel's brutal criticism did little to destroy the spectacle of the Stanley Cup. People like Angela and commenters on her video still show their loyalty to the cup, as do millions of other TikTok users determined to drink their coffee well into the afternoon.
