Multiple suspects arrested in Troup County arrest

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A four-month investigation has resulted in the seizure of several suspected drug trafficking cases and the arrest of several suspects.

Multiple agencies, including LaGrange police and the Troup County Sheriff's Office, searched seven homes on Oct. 22.

These are the suspects arrested following the execution of the search warrants and the charges against them:

Rashad Pickett (Shad) – LaGrange, Georgia

  • Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
  • Possession of an Attachment 2 with intent to distribute
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

According to officials, Pickett is currently out on bond for multiple cocaine sales arrests dating back to 2019.

Johnnie Sanders – LaGrange, Georgia

  • Trafficking in methamphetamine
  • Possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

Jessica Gates –LaGrange, Georgia

Gary Bernard Newman – (Nard) – LaGrange, Georgia

  • Trafficking in Fentanyl (Level 3)
  • Fentanyl trafficking conspiracy

James Edward Thompson III (JT) (JT Money) – LaGrange, Georgia

  • Trading Fentanyl (x2) (Level 3)
  • Trafficking in marijuana
  • Trafficking in methamphetamine
  • Possession of an Attachment 2 with intent to distribute
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Authorities also seized the following items:

  • 15+ pounds of marijuana
  • Approximately 4,000-5,000 fentanyl tablets
  • Over 30 grams of MDMA pills
  • 14 grams of crack cocaine
  • 8 grams of cocaine powder
  • Fentanyl powder
  • Fentanyl “strips”
  • Oxycodone tablets
  • 6 firearms
  • $50,000+ in US currency

The LaGrange Police Department's Special Investigations Unit began receiving information about possible drug dealers in Troup County. According to officials, several individuals were identified during the preliminary investigation and fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana were among the many drugs that were smuggled.

This was investigated by the LaGrange Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the Troup County Sheriff's Office and the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office in Troup County.
