Charges dismissed against man accused of murder in Delphi

DELPHI, Ind. (WNDU) – The man accused of leaking photo evidence in the Delphi murder case will no longer face charges.

According to our sister station WTHR, misdemeanor charges against Mitchell Thomas Westerman have been dismissed by a judge in Johnson County.

The Westfield man allegedly told investigators that he took photos of evidence during a visit to the office of a defense attorney in the Delphi murder case and then passed them on.

These photos ended up in the hands of various YouTube and podcast creators.

According to WTHR, Westerman reached a plea deal with prosecutors, who agreed to dismiss the case once he completed his pre-trial diversion program. Online court records show the charges were dismissed Oct. 23.
