Chicago crime: 17-year-old boy arrested two years after suspected armed carjacking on West Side

A teenager was arrested this week, two years after he allegedly took part in an armed carjacking on Chicago's West Side.

According to police, the 17-year-old is charged with grand theft of a vehicle with a firearm.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 19, 2022, in the 900 block of West Garfield, where the teenager is accused of taking a vehicle from a 28-year-old man at gunpoint.

Authorities said other perpetrators were involved in the crime.

The teen was arrested Wednesday by members of the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force in the 2100 block of East 87th Street.

No further details have been released at this time.
