High wind during Halloween trick or treating

It's going to be a wet and windy Halloween! Since there are strong winds blowing this evening and the kids are trick-or-treating, today is actually the FIRST ALARM WEATHER DAY!

A wind advisory has been issued near and south of Highway 10 from 1 to 9 p.m. Westerly winds can reach up to 45 miles per hour! Unsecured Halloween decorations can be blown down by strong winds. Power outages may occur this evening due to fallen tree branches. High-profile vehicles can battle through westerly winds on north-south routes like I-41 and I-43. The wind will finally die down around Friday morning.

Rain that persisted overnight will change to scattered showers today. With trick-or-treating, most of the showers will occur north of Green Bay. Some people in north-central Wisconsin may see a few wet snowflakes this evening, but this “snowy surprise” is something most of us should avoid.

Friday and Saturday look cooler and dry. However, isolated showers will occur again on Sunday. There is a chance of rain and temperatures in the low 50s during the Packers-Lions game.

Sunday is also the day when clocks go “back” an hour as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end.

The unsettled weather will continue until early next week. That includes some rain on Election Day with highs in the 60s.
