Former University of Pennsylvania football player accused of stealing equipment and selling it online

Police in Cambria County have accused a former Saint Francis University football player of stealing the team's equipment and trying to sell it online.

Kyle Hill, 25, of Greenville, North Carolina, was charged with burglary, larceny, larceny and trespassing, according to WJAC and WTAJ.

Officials said Hill stole 41 helmets, four sets of shoulder pads and three face shields from the university's locker room.

The school's head of football operations told police on Aug. 2 that players noticed some equipment was missing.

On Aug. 14, Greenville police said they conducted a traffic stop on Hill and found the university's equipment in his vehicle.

Police said they also searched Hill's phone and found photos of the equipment, sales history of the merchandise and text messages about the equipment.

The total value of the equipment was estimated at more than $25,000, authorities said.

Hill is currently in the Cambria County Jail after failing to post bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 12th.
