Prosecutors deny sharing a Diddy attack video, saying there was no clip at the time

Video of the attack is shown Diddy hit his girlfriend at the time Cassie Ventura was not published by the feds, they claim… and said CNN got it from someone else – and Diddy's arguments claiming the opposite were completely false.

Prosecutors filed a motion in U.S. District Court challenging a motion Diddy filed earlier this month in which he claimed he believed the government leaked the video to the popular cable news channel back in May… and they're basically saying that that couldn't be true. because they didn't even have it yet.

According to prosecutors, federal agents searched for the video early in the investigation, but it mysteriously disappeared from the hotel's server… and only resurfaced on CNN released the footage on May 17th.

Prosecutors say they ultimately downloaded the video from CNN's website … but they still don't have the original.

As we reported … in an earlier filing, Diddy's team blames unnamed Department of Homeland Security agents … who they say are a likely source of the leaks – and points out that DHS agents are often quoted in news stories about Diddy's case .

Federal prosecutors point out that many more people than federal agents had access to the video. It involved hotel employees, the hotel's security team, and even Diddy's employees could have leaked the video instead.

Federal authorities insist there is no need for an evidentiary hearing on whether prosecutors leaked the clip.

Diddy is still locked up in federal custody in Brooklyn as he awaits trial in his criminal case. He is facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for prostitution. He is also involved in dozens of civil lawsuits.
