One dead after crash on Highway 74

California Highway Patrol records indicate the big rig was “downhill” shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday when it lost control and overturned.

CHP Officer David Torres told City News Service that the large truck collided with a Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction, the driver of which was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes on Highway 74 remain closed from Palowet Drive to State Route 371, according to Torres, who said the timing of reopening is unknown.
