Woman killed in Jasper crash, strangers said to have tried to save her

JASPER, Ind. (WFIE) – Jasper police say a fatal accident is under investigation.

They say it happened just before 4 p.m. Wednesday at US 231 and Division Road.

According to the police, it was a car accident in which only the driver was present.

When they arrived, the car was on fire.

The driver was pulled from the burning car and taken to the hospital.

Police said their investigation revealed the driver was speeding and the car crashed into a utility pole.

Linda Lou Dalziel of Huntingburg is said to have died from her injuries.

In addition to several first responders, members of the public also put themselves in danger to save a stranger's life, according to police.
