Viral video shows Trump staffers berating the Democratic mayor for trying to tear down the barricade before the rally

A viral video shows a Trump aide berating the mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, for trying to tear down barricades ahead of former President Trump's rally there Tuesday night.

Videos posted on TikTok show Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk arguing with staff over road closures, fearing they would prevent people from casting ballots.

The employee constantly yells at the mayor and accuses him of lying. He points out that the city had issued a public notice of road closures days before the rally and that police had approved the campaign.

“Do you think I’ll remove the barricades now? Yes, you’re crazy,” the employee says. “Don’t ever put that on me again.”

He told Mayor Tuerk that people could simply walk around the barricade if they had access to the ballot box. He also accused the mayor of being afraid that people would vote for Trump.

“The Trump-disturbed Democratic mayor of Allentown attempted to disrupt the setup of President Trump's rally, even though the campaign had proper permits and approved road closures,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital . “We appreciate the support of local law enforcement in ensuring the rally was a great success.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Mayor Tuerk to get his perspective. The mayor said he looked at how the event was going on Monday night and noticed that the “bike rack,” as Mr. Nelson called it, appeared to limit mobility-impaired voters' access to voting at the county government center.”

Mayor Tuerk said he tried to engage with the employee on the issue, but “his frustration appears to have boiled over.”

The mayor said he was eventually able to resolve the situation with Allentown's police chief and supervisor.

“I am disappointed that the Trump campaign misrepresented the interaction and that various commenters took the opportunity to hurl hateful insults my way,” Tuerk said. “Allentown did its job on Tuesday. I am proud of the city staff who successfully enabled everyone to vote and also made it possible for everyone to attend a political event.”
