CPSO is investigating possible hit-and-run death in Westlake

WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) is investigating a suspected hit-and-run death in Westlake.

At approximately 2 p.m. this afternoon, CPSO said it received a call about a person spotted in the ditch in the 2600 block of Miller Avenue near Smith Ferry Road. When officers arrived, they found a man unresponsive in the ditch.

The investigation is still in its early stages, but authorities believe the man may have been injured in a hit-and-run. The medical examiner will determine the victim's cause of death.

The victim's name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
