Expert Picks for Texans vs. Jets Player Props for TNF: Big Games for Hall and Schultz?

The New York Jets' 2024 season is being forgotten. Fans' frustration has already reached its peak after this edition of the team was built to win now. Instead, it's been another year of disappointment so far, as “Gang Green” enters Thursday's matchup against Houston with a record of 2-6.

New York faces a must-win scenario if it tries to turn things around immediately, otherwise its first year with Aaron Rodgers at the helm will be remembered as a colossal failure.

It won't be easy to defeat the surging Texans, who have a 6-2 record. But Houston is dealing with significant offensive injuries and the Jets are desperate, so you could be looking for very productive performances from their key players. According to the latest NFL odds for Week 9, my expert picks for TNF players, Texans vs. Jets, show great value.

Top Texans vs. Jets player prop picks for TNF Week 9

Breece Hall over 80 rushing yards

Best odds: +145 at DraftKings (Bet $100 gets $145)

Hall will be a crucial player for the Jets on Thursday night. Getting him rolling will balance the offense and help New York control the clock. The matchup is also favorable according to some statistical indicators.

The Jets offensive line has a top-four run blocking grade among AFC teams against Houston in NFL Week 9 on Pro Football Focus. Over the last four weeks, Houston ranked 17th in rushing yards allowed to RBs.

Hall managed more than 80 yards in two of the last three games. His performance has been inconsistent this season. However, the Jets must try to ride him as they push for a much-needed win.

Garrett Wilson over 5.5 receptions

Best odds: +115 at BetMGM ($100 bet wins $115.00)

This is a strong move because even with Davante Adams now on the Houston roster, Wilson will still score a lot. The addition of Rodgers' long-time pal can also help Wilson gain respect and attention for Adams on defense.

The Texans don't rank in the top 10 in receptions allowed to opposing WRs. Wilson has a WR/CB grade of 70.3 on PFF against the Houston corners in Week 9, which is considered “good.” He doesn't face a shutdown secondary, so Wilson should be able to overcome that number with some ease.

In each of his last six games, the Jets' No. 1 WR finished with five or more receptions. He will be busy regardless of the game script. If New York stays in the game, Wilson will be a reason to do so, and if it plays from behind, the receiving totals will certainly be boosted.

Dalton Schultz over 4.5 receptions

Best odds: +125 at bet365 (bet $100 gets $125)

The Texans started the season with a strong performance at WR, and Schultz became an afterthought. However, injuries have robbed Houston of its two best pass catchers, and the TE will need to take on a larger role in the passing game against the Jets.

Stefon Diggs is out for the season and Nico Collins will not be available. The Jets CBs will be able to focus on limiting Tank Dell, and depth WRs Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie III have not yet proven they can step up and produce enough for Houston.

New York will be without its two starting safeties, Ashtyn Davis and Tony Adams. Middle linebacker CJ, Mosley will also miss the game. The middle of the field should be vulnerable enough for Schultz to be targeted frequently. Over the last four weeks, the Jets ranked 21st in receptions allowed to TEs.
