Broncos' Bo Nix explains what happened on the throw that went viral

In the first quarter last week Thursday Night Football In the game against the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw a bad pass right in the middle of two wide-open receivers.

Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin was furthest down the field and tight end Lucas Krull was about 10 yards below him. Both players were wide open, but Nix's pass landed directly between them (an ugly incompletion that went viral on social media).

After practice on Wednesday, Nix was asked what happened on that throw.

“We had a good three-stage flood,” Nix explained. “They did a good job rolling two and the border security didn't reach the halfway point. Troy was completely open, but he wasn't necessarily into reading. So I got Lucas down [in progression]. The Hook defenders were in a tough situation, so I just tried to pass it up for him and missed and threw it.”

So there is that.

The poor throw had no impact on the game as the Broncos ultimately took a 33-10 road win.

This week Denver hosts the Carolina Panthers.
