Wrongly accused man sues Missouri senators over KC Chiefs shooting allegations

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – New lawsuits are being filed against three Missouri senators on behalf of a Johnson County man.

The lawsuits allege that the three state senators falsely identified Denton Loudermill as one of those responsible for the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl game.

Loudermill is from Olathe, but the lawsuits allege that Sen. Rick Brattin of Harrisonville, Sen. Denny Hoskins of Warrensburg and Sen. Nick Schroer of St. Charles County said he was in the country illegally at the time of the deadly rally shooting.

The lawsuits are similar to previous lawsuits filed after the Kansas shooting. The main difference is that the three new lawsuits involve a claim of defamation per se.

Loudermill accuses the senators of sharing social media posts that made false claims against him.

According to the lawsuits filed Thursday, Loudermill received death threats and caused mental distress and anxiety because of the social media posts.

A federal judge in Kansas dismissed the original lawsuits last week. The judge said Kansas had no jurisdiction over the three senators from Missouri. The decision came a month after the dismissal of a lawsuit against U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee.

Benson previously said he also planned to file a new lawsuit against Burchett in Washington, D.C., where the congressman was when he posted about Loudermill on social media.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan died in the shooting at the celebration in February. More than 20 people were injured in the shooting.
