Fatal crash on I-405 blocks northbound lanes in Bothell

Traffic on northbound I-405 in Bothell is completely closed Thursday evening after a fatal two-car crash.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a vehicle spun on the highway near Northeast 195th Street, struck the guardrail and was struck by another car. The driver of the car that skidded was killed.

As of 9 p.m., northbound traffic on I-405 will be completely closed. Traffic is being diverted around the scene of the accident via 195th Street.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says the backlog has reached two miles. There is no ETA for reopening.

Officers are working to determine whether impairment was a factor.
