Steven Seagal, 72, is unrecognizable in new photos after leaving Hollywood

Steven Seagal looked virtually unrecognizable in new images released earlier this week.

The American actor, who publicly supported Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and the resulting war between the two countries, appeared in a new Russian television documentary from which images were taken The Daily Mail Preview on Thursday, October 31st.

Photos from the project, which a state media outlet published earlier this month under the title In the name of justiceshowed the 72-year-old former Hollywood star exploring the war-torn areas of Russian-occupied Ukraine. In the snaps, Seagal appeared to have gained weight since he was last seen in public.

A description of the short film published by IMDb claimed that Seagal had “personally spoken with the victims of Ukrainian nationalists and seen with his own eyes what is happening in Ukraine’s Donbass region.”

The Hard to kill Star made a name for himself in the late 1980s and early 1990s as an actor who brought his background in martial arts to the screen. Years after making a splash in Hollywood, Seagal sought Russian citizenship, which the Russian president received Vladimir Putin Awarded in 2016.

Two years after obtaining this citizenship, the Russian Foreign Ministry appointed Seagal as Special Representative for Russia-US Cultural Ties and for Cultural and Historical Heritage, a voluntary position for which Seagal was tasked with fostering “direct contacts, mutual understanding and trust” between to strengthen people in Russia and the USA

Seagal has since been awarded the Order of Friendship, a special medal he received directly from Putin during a ceremony at the Kremlin earlier this year. According to TASS, a Russian state news agency, Seagal was honored for his “great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation.”
