A chaotic interaction between a Trump aide and the mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has gone viral. The duo argued over road closures and concerns about casting ballots. According to Fox News, the former mayor humiliated Matt Tuerk when he was asked to dismantle barricades outside Donald Trump's rally on Tuesday.

As Tuerk tries to explain how road closures would prevent people from participating in the electoral process, the Trump-aligned staffer accuses him of lying. The hostile argument leads to the other man insulting the mayor with swear words.

“Do you think I’ll remove the barricades now? “Yes, you’re crazy,” the employee shouts at him. “Don't ever put that on me again.” As he continued to shout down the mayor of Allentown, he pushed for people to be able to walk around the barriers to get to the mailbox. His vicious remarks escalated the next minute when he also claimed that Tuerk was afraid of people voting for the Republican presidential candidate. The employee also told him that a public notice had been issued days before the rally as the police had given them permission for the road closures.

Trump's team is getting involved

Worst came to worst when the Trump campaign ended up dealing with the mayor as well. In light of the now-viral incident, the Republican leader's page accused the Pennsylvania politician of trying to “disrupt the setup of President Trump's rally.” As the video made the rounds on X/Twitter, the Democratic mayor's intentions were again sharply criticized online. Internet users accused him of trying to “stop a Trump rally” – the very debate that led to the mayor's argument with the Trump staffer in the first place.

Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the media outlet, “The Trump-affected Democratic mayor of Allentown attempted to disrupt the setup of President Trump's rally despite having proper permits and approved road closures for the campaign.”

“We appreciate the support of law enforcement in ensuring the rally was a great success.”

Allentown's mayor is speaking out against the Trump campaign for “misrepresenting” the incident

To complete the story, Mayor Tuerk placed his puzzle piece in place, telling Fox News Digital that he noticed the “bike rack” when he visited the site Monday evening to see how preparations were unfolding. This barricade “appears to restrict mobility-impaired voters’ access to vote at the county government center.”

However, instead of hearing him out, the Trump aide who was at the scene at the time fumed as his frustration took over. The issue was ultimately resolved with Allentown's police chief and supervisor, but he could not dismiss the fact that the former president had misrepresented the case on the campaign trail. “I am disappointed that the Trump campaign misrepresented the interaction and that various commenters took the opportunity to hurl hateful insults my way,” he said. He held up Allentown as a precedent and boasted, “Allentown did its job on Tuesday. “I'm proud of the city staff for making it possible for everyone to vote and also for everyone to attend a political event.”
