Gallatin woman airlifted to Truman Medical Center after accident on Highway 69

A 78-year-old Gallatin woman was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 69 near Winston, Missouri, Thursday evening. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on October 31, 2024 at approximately 4:56 p.m., approximately one mile east of Winston in Daviess County.

Patrol reported that a 2007 Lincoln MKX, driven by Sylvia J. Berry of Gallatin, was traveling eastbound on Highway 69 when it veered off the south side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a street sign, hit the ground, became airborne and hit the ground a second time before overturning. The Lincoln came to a stop on its wheels, facing northeast.

Berry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She suffered serious injuries and was initially transported by Community Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. She was later flown to Truman Medical Center for further treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and was towed by Bridgeman's Towing of Altamont.

The accident was investigated with the assistance of Corporal VP Wiley of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
