The Board of Mayor and City Councilors was presented with crime statistics from the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) for the period August 24 to September 24 during its regular meeting on Monday. 24.

According to VPD, 3,384 calls and 886 reports were logged; There were 318 arrests; 249 arrest warrants, 161 summonses and 17 warnings were issued; seven DUIs were recorded.

Crime categories for the month included: no cases of murder, manslaughter or rape; one robbery, compared to none the previous month; six serious bodily injuries, up from two the previous month; five business collapses, up from four the previous month; three residential burglaries, less than seven; 18 car break-ins, down from 22, including five into secured vehicles (out of three) and four into unsecured vehicles (out of eight) in the previous month; four cases of car theft, up from five the previous month; and 20 cases of domestic violence, up from 27 the previous month. There were no cases of car theft or kidnapping and no cases were recorded in the previous month.
