Videos show mass shooting in downtown Orlando that leaves two people dead and seven injured – NBC 6 South Florida

Surveillance video and body camera footage captured the chaos that erupted during a mass shooting in downtown Orlando that left two people dead and at least seven injured as tens of thousands gathered for Halloween celebrations, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Officers first responded to a call about a shooting at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue around 1:07 a.m. There, a victim fell to the ground and the suspect and others allegedly flew away, police said.

Shortly after, authorities received another call about a shooting south of Washington Street and Orange Avenue. One victim was killed there.

A total of nine people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The two deceased men were 25 and 19 years old. Their names have not been published.

The other victims are:

  • An 18-year-old man was shot in the left lower leg
  • A 39-year-old woman was shot in the left hand
  • A 24-year-old woman was shot in the left leg
  • a 20-year-old man who suffered an abrasion to his head
  • A 26-year-old man was shot in the right foot
  • A 19-year-old woman was shot in the upper back and lodged in the cheek
  • a 26-year-old woman who suffered injuries from trampling

Two of the survivors were in critical condition, NBC affiliate WESH reported.

Surveillance video shows the shooter wearing a bright yellow shirt walking through a crowd of people in costumes. He looks behind him, gets a gun and shoots a person, causing the crowd to flee and scream.

It's not clear whether the footage is from the first or second scene.

On police bodycam footage, an officer can be heard screaming, “Gunshot victim, gunshot victim, gunshot victim!”

The video then shows the officer running toward the suspect and telling him, “Get on the ground! Get on the ground immediately.”

“It’s not me, it’s not me,” the suspect replies as the officer grabs him.

Other officers rush over to help.

“I saw him shoot, I saw him shoot!” says the arresting officer as authorities pin the suspect to the ground.

Authorities said the suspect was a 17-year-old. NBC6 does not identify minors suspected of crimes unless they are charged as adults.

“The officers did a great job. They reacted immediately when they heard the shooting, you know. So everyone else runs away. They don't, they sit in position and look for a shooter. They found a shooter. They took him downstairs,” Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
