CT Man Charged With Killing Kitten Because It 'Annoyed' Him

SHELTON, CT (WFSB) – A Shelton man was arrested for killing a kitten, police said.

Krzystof Bakota, 47, was charged with first-degree malicious killing of an animal.

According to police, Krzystof Bakota was accused of killing a kitten in Shelton.(Shelton Police)

Bakota was arrested on Friday.

The arrest stemmed from a report Shelton police received from a family member who said she had left her kitten in Bakota's care while she was away.

According to police, Bakota told her the kitten was missing. It was later found dead in the backyard by another family member.

Bakota admitted to family members that he killed the kitten, police said. He told another family member that the kitten was annoying him, so he threw it against a table and then threw it off the back deck.

The kitten's body was taken to the University of Connecticut Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for an autopsy.

The report stated, among other things, that the kitten had multiple skull fractures with significant bleeding.

According to police, the cause of death was trauma to the left body wall and pulmonary hemorrhage.

They said there was evidence of blunt force trauma and it was highly unlikely the kitten was killed by another animal.

Bakota was held on $25,000 bond and brought to Derby Superior Court for arraignment Friday.
