Man accused of stabbing in primary school in court

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – The man accused of stabbing an elementary school principal appeared in an Ohio courtroom for the first time Friday morning.

Eight days ago, deputies said Joshua Collins violently attacked South Point Elementary School Principal Bill Christian with a knife after he allegedly became upset over a custody issue.

Collins was taken to hospital after the incident for cuts to his arms. He had to cross national borders to receive treatment, which made legal proceedings more difficult.

After leaving the hospital in West Virginia, he was incarcerated at the Western Regional Jail.

Since then, he has appeared in Cabell County Court in West Virginia several times and was charged last Friday in district court with fugitive from justice.

On Tuesday, he waived extradition in district court and voluntarily decided to return to Lawrence County, Ohio, to face charges there.

On November 1, Collins was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He is also accused of threatening stalking and telecommunications harassment.

Collins' bond was set at $2 million.

His preliminary hearing will be Nov. 5 at 11 a.m

This is a developing story.
