A Houston father was killed in a garage on Halloween, possibly by a suspect wearing a Mike Myers mask on Hawks Nest, officials say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are searching for a person considered a suspect who was wearing a Michael Myers mask near the scene of a fatal shooting in northwest Harris County, investigators told ABC13 Friday.

The shooting occurred on Hawks Nest Drive near March Creek Drive around 11:15 p.m. on Halloween night.

Two of the man's children were at home at the time but were uninjured.

A man was outside in the garage when someone shot him multiple times while his two young children were inside the home, officials said. The children remained uninjured. A third child, an infant, was staying with a relative and was not home at the time of the shooting.

According to authorities, neighbors reported seeing a suspicious man wearing a Michael Myers mask.

Investigators are checking whether this man is the shooter, but did not provide any further information about him. The investigation into the shooting and motive is ongoing.

A Harris County Sheriff's Office sergeant told ABC13's Courtney Fischer that the man's estranged wife – also the mother of the children – was murdered in their Harris County home in August.

They shared three children together, and now those children have lost both parents.

ABC13 has also learned that the man was involved in the murder of his estranged wife.

His identity has not been released, but investigators believe he was in his 30s.
